Alison Tatsuoka

For the past ten years IBT ballet student Alison Tatsuoka has been also dedicating herself to studying classical piano at Nelly Berman School of Music.

At the age of eight Alison has already won 2nd prize in the Alberti International Piano Competition and played in Carnegie Hall in New York.

At the age of eleven she won 1st prize in the West Chester Piano Competition. At age of thirteens she won second prize at the Tri-County Piano Competition. Alison has also played in the Kimmel Center, Haverford Centennial Hall, the Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall, and Montgomery Community College. This past summer she won a scholarship and was accepted into the New Orleans Piano Institute.

Some of Alison's favorite pieces include Andante Maestoso and Intermezzo from Pletnev’s arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. This Holiday Season, in addition to dancing the roles of Snow Queen and Arabian in IBT's Nutcracker (to be performed on December 6th at the Ursinus College,) Alison will be also performing with her piano school.

Support your friend Alison and hear her perform at the Nelly Berman School of Music's award-winning Rising Stars Student Concert taking place on Sunday, December 14 at 4 pm at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Bryn Mawr.

The concert will present two Philadelphia Orchestra concerto competition winners, as well as some of Philadelphia's top young musicians playing piano, violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, voice, and chamber music. For more information check out or email Elena Berman-Gantard at .
